In 2015 I (Natalie) met a mom who had recently moved to Houston to start a new beginning with her husband and kids. However, things didn't go according to plan. During this encounter, the woman began to share her story. Y'all, my heart sank, and the woman's experience saddened me. Still, I was in awe of how she spoke with so much hope despite being in a place without family support, unemployment, recent separation from her husband, and without transportation.

The conversation ended, and I got in the car, pulled away, and silently wondered how I could help. That year, I'd planned to celebrate my birthday with dinner, but after praying, instead, I was inspired to host a surprise baby shower for the mom.

I immediately texted some friends and shared the idea, and it just took off. My daughter, Jada, worked silently with the woman's oldest girls and set everything in motion. I cannot put that day into words; so many of my friends chipped in buying the cake, helping with décor, praying, and showing up for a stranger. It ignited something in me, and from that moment, the dream of helping vulnerable women and their unborn children never left me. I could not believe my eyes. She drove off with carloads of things for her little one. No questions asked.

For several years, I continued to meet the needs of vulnerable expectant moms privately with friends and family; however, I sensed the Lord nudging me to develop this into an organized effort, so here we are.

This story is personal to me. Although, I had a family that celebrated and pitched in to help me as a teenage mom. I recognize so many vulnerable expectant moms don't have a community or family to support them or provide a special day to be showered and lavished with love despite their current circumstances.

Lullabies and Chaos is the best way to describe a vulnerable expectant mom's experiences. She has those sweet, tender moments, which we refer to as Lullabies, but then there are the times of struggle where the Chaos comes in.

I believe that Lullabies and Chaos is an organization that will leave a lasting legacy oozing with compassion eliminating the hardships vulnerable moms face while giving them a beautiful beginning. I hope you will join us on this journey to celebrate them and offer a hand up so they can begin writing a new story.
